Ijaza Online: Connecting with the Quran
As Muslims, the Quran should provide daily nourishment for our souls. Knowing the words of Allah and being able to read them as He intended is a key element of our faith.
Nonetheless, we often envision the intensive learning of the Quran with little children. Many adults are content with the Surah’s they have known since they were young and give up trying to memorize any new verses over the years. Furthermore, they might be surprised to discover that while they’ve been reciting Quran for decades, they don’t actually know how to read it properly.
The study of Quran has no age limit and should be a lifelong journey. Whether you are 10, 30 or 75, the Quran is for you, and indeed there are many inspiring stories of people who dedicated themselves to memorizing the holy book late in life. When we memorize the Quran or emphasize its best recitation, we are continuing a noble tradition begun by our beloved Prophet (saw) and passed on from one generation to the next.
While not everyone might be capable of memorizing the whole Quran, at the very least we should all make a commitment to learning its Correct Recitation and Tajweed, so we can give the verses we do know their full rights. The Prophet (saw) said, “Verily the one who recites the Qur’an beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have twice that reward.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim). Thus, even if we struggle with the learning and the recitation, Allah is always abundant with His rewards.Continue your own journey with the Quran – visit our IJAZAONLINE website to see a full list of all the courses we offer Insha’Allah.
